Plant Chemistries: Tannins, acids & salts in homemade plant-based inks create halos, precipitates, & edge-darkening. Ink solutions were applied to cold-press watercolor paper; additives (see below) were tested individually. Lightfastness test: 8weeks in south-facing window.

    Alc    Isopropyl, 20%       increases flow,
                                        lowers bacterial growth
    SC    Sodium Carbonate  raises pH 
    V20   Vinegar, 20%         lowers pH
    V50   Vinegar, 50%         lowers pH

Lightfastness: One half of each test sheet was taped into a south-facing window for 8 weeks; the other was kept protected.
